Online Poker 'Tells'

Poker "tells" are the language that your body speaks. Any small gesture or sign made by a player that might signal what cards they are holding is known as a "tell".

The live game of poker has many different kinds of "tells" that players can use to read what sort of cards opponents might have in their hands. Probably the most well-known known of all "tells" is the eye movement; this is a reason why many of the amateurs (and also the professional poker gamers) wear sunglasses while playing poker - to avoid brodcasting any eye movements.

Individual poker players have their own particular signs that they might brodcast: Some sweat or twitch when they are on the spot. If a professional poker player is seated at a table full of amateurs, the truly skilled can read their opponent's quality of hand by their "tells".

Online poker requires a different approach in searck=hing for "tells". It would be impossible to "see" the other player's "tells". Nevertheless, there are some tips on how you can catch your opponents "tells" by the way they play their hands.

1) Speed of response. This is the primary "tell" that you have on your opponents when playing online poker. take careful note of poker players who pause before deciding to check; this can be seen as a weak game, and signals that the opponent has bad cards in their hand.

In your own game, you should also be aware of this tell; if you decide to check with a poor card in hand, don't hesitate before you decide to do it.

2) Chatting. Another big poker "tell" that players online are using is the "chatting". You will know if the player is weak if he constantly chats at the table. These kinds of players usually come along and say why they decided to fold or even tell you what cards are in their hands; essentially these players copy what they have seen on television that professional poker players are doing.

Ordinarily these poker players are not doing it very well, apparently there is not a good deal of time when you are playing online poker, and since they are typing out to chat, basically, these players are not concentrating on the game.

3) Maniacs. These are the kinds of players that go all-in bet much of the time. They are the ones who play with a do-or-die style. You can find them in the early stages of online tournament play. You can be able to spot them easily, and you can stop them. Just wait for a good hand then call their all-in bet and they're done. You won't see these players in the later rounds too often!

4) The Limper. These kinds of players are the opposite of the maniacs. They will see and try every hand for free, as soon as they have the chance they will fold at the beginning of the bet, but not if they have a good hand. What you should do is fold if the limp begin to bet, but then again, not if you also have a very good hand. This type of player usually doesn't stand up well when the betting gets heavy at the end of a game.

These four tips should help you out to read the "tells" while playing online. Master these signs and "tells" to take advantage of the online poker game.
